Seize the Day!
Seize the Day.
Today is a New Day.
Don’t Miss the Moments.
Don’t take today for granted.
There are so many sayings and things that encourage people to do just that. Make the most of every opportunity, and really maximize what you have in front of you.
Have you ever wondered what that looks like practically? Do you do this really well?
There is so much that we have going on in our lives. Whether it be work, school, friends, community, social media, and the list goes on! There is so much opportunity to look and compare what you have going on in your lives and begin to sink back and not want to capture the day. Or there may be significant worry or stress about things looming over your day, or the upcoming week, days, or months.
Worrying is the worst, and I feel like I have been doing a lot of it lately. There are several things in my life that I am stressing about and worrying about, and quite honestly am scared about.
When you think about your day, or take an inventory of your week, or past months, where have you been capturing the joy yourself, and where have you been worrying or not finding that life to the fullest?
In the last couple years, I have really tried to create a list of goals each year, or for a certain season. Not just a list of things I want to do, like go skydiving, but a list of things that will help direct my thoughts, my decisions, my choices.
Like earlier this year, Dan and I made a list of goals that we had for the both of us, and it has affected the way we make decisions, but as the year has gone on, I am realizing, I need to be reminded of them.
In my everyday life, how can I choose determination? How can I dream big? Or, how do I find ways to laugh a lot.
I mentioned some things earlier that I was worried about, and stressed about. Its looming, but I am going to try to make that decision daily to choose to keep loving deeply. I am going to keep working at a resolution with determination. I believe that when we make decisions about how we are going to respond to situations, that helps us to be intentional about how we live, but helps us to take the new day as it is, a new day.
What are some things that you need to make a decision about how you respond and react to things that happen to you, or around you? Things will happen, and its how you respond to them that will affect how you take on each day.
“Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin.” – Mother Teresa
Let’s begin today with a renewed vigor, with a new intentionality.

P.S. My favorite verse is James 1:2, that really helps bring perspective to this as well, “Dear brothers and sisters,[when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy.” Talk about a choice we have to make, and being intentional about perspective! Calling troubles an opportunity?! Yup, a lot of our day to day interactions are influenced by our perspective. Choose wisely!
